WHIRLPOOL GALAXY

This image of the spiral Whirlpool Galaxy and its companion NGC 5195 combines radio data (blue) from the Very Large Array with optical images (white) from the Second Palomar Observatory Sky Survey. The stars in these galaxies can be seen as well as the dust.
