CYGNUS MOSAIC

3000 light-years to the brightest star

This image encompasses many astronomical elements in the constellation Cygnus (the swan). The North American and Pelican Nebulae are bright in the upper left portion just to the left of the massive and vivid star Deneb. In the lower right corner, near the bright star Sadr, lies the Butterfly Nebula, one of the brightest regions among all the emission clouds in the Cygnus complex.
